RODING VALLEY CRICKET CLUB

Welcome to Roding Valley Cricket Club

Roding Valley Cricket Club has seen over 50 years of cricket played at the River Playing Fields and is one of the oldest clubs in existence in this corner of Essex.

Membership which include junior cricketers and social members exceed 80 and new members are always welcome.

The Senior Mens Section runs 2 teams on Saturday and 1 on Sunday and there are junior teams at every age group up to 16 years old. In addition there is a large social membership.

On Saturdays the club play in the Herts & Essex Cricket League Division 3 during 2007, thanks to back-to-back promotions and the 2nd team was promoted to Division 5 in 2008. The Sunday team plays in the Essex Sunday League (West Devision) in addition to some friendly fixtures. The juniors play in a number of competitions, including the Cox & Kings and Peter Coe Cups, as well as a number of friendly matches. During the cold winter days both the senior players and colts play indoor competitive cricket at various venues.

Our junior players train outdoors every Friday evening from 6.30pm to 8pm during the cricket season, while indoor training takes place during the winter. The club has a number of qualified coaches who assist during training to develop our youngsters.

Four years ago a darts team was incorporated into the activities of the club and members meet regularly for a friendly throw or for competitive league and cups games.

There is something for everyone at the Valley, darts, pool, football table and bar, as well as a number of well organised social events.

The Membership Secretary is Brian Powell and he can be contacted at the club on 020 8506 1001 (answer phone service available 24/7). The Club is generally open Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday from midday during the cricket season. Please note this is a members only club and access and use of the facilities are restricted to members approved by the Club Committee.

The Club is always open to new members and cricketers of all ages and standards to be a part of this great game. So if you feel like cricket or you are a parent with young children wishing to try out cricket, just give the club a call or visiting us at the River Playing Fields.

Thank you for visiting this site. Please feel free to navigate your way around, but note that some areas are restricted to members only.
